phil and i decided to go outside for a bit last sunday(those are his feet up there), so we headed to belle island. it was exceptionally misty and a bit rainy and very green, perfectly overcast and definitely right for viewing ghosts. we didn’t see any, but of all the places where one might expect to see a ghost, a civil war prison camp island seems likely, right? hmm. for the last few summers, one of my “to-do” items has been to spot a ufo. personally, i think if i just tried hard enough, it would happen. p. humors me every time i announce, finger jabbing the air for emphasis “this is the summer we *really* going to see a ufo. i’m serious!” he’s all for it, but i suspect he doesn’t want to put in the many hours after sundown i think a sighting would require. summer is coming, though, and we do plan to do a bit of camping, so i won’t give up hope. though, if we saw a ghost while camping i think i’d have a heart attack. i’m not sure why a ufo seems less scary than a ghost?
here are some greeny pictures of our (ghostless) jaunt:
so i mentioned that i’m quitting my job. i’m ecstatic, a tiny bit worried, really happy, and though i’m still working in the office for about 2 months, i see a major light at the end of the loooong boring tunnel. i’m not going straight into unemployment, i’m actually going to be fully employed teaching puppets and embroidery and mask making and whatnot. i seriously cannot wait! i have been preparing for this for so long, and as soon as i gave notice - which went very well and encouragingly with no hurt feelings or weirdness from my boss - i realized i should have done it a long time ago. years, maybe.

Ghosts! Sarah, do you know about the Richmond ghost hunters group? I’m attending my first meeting tonight…Every Spring I think long and hard about Lily Dale…
Anyway, here’s a link to VASPER (Virginia Society for Paranormal Education and Research):

you rock sarah, congratulations on sticking it to the man…err…having a civil convo with your boss. can’t wait to see what comes of your liberated creativity, which is already so delightfully thriving. virginia is the place for ghosts, i’m sure you might see one. i know of a certain witch tree where if you stick your arm in its roots and you’re a bad person it gets munched off. and that’s why i type so slowly today…JK! my babysitter forced us to lay in the backyard and look for UFO’s after we were supposed to be in bed and we DID see something, i don’t remember what, so you probably will too.
