Thanks to the City Paper for such a super Crafty Bastards fair. It was great fun.
Phil and I got there a little after 7:00 to set up. While P. went to park the car, I set up the table. After a pants changing/lost key situation, P. returned and got us some coffee while I did last minute sewing. We were lucky to have a great booth neighbor - Elaine - who sold knitted/felted bags among other things. She did a brisk business, too. Lot’s of people were interested in her technique, and I heard her doing a great job of explaining the felting process. Her husband visited later in the day and brought their 6-month old twins. They were sweeties.
The day went by quickly, and lots of people bought stuff and gave me compliments, which made me feel really good because sometimes I felt like I was working in a vacuum when making my wares, and had moments of thinking “am I crazed? no one wants a wierd purse/finger puppet/doll.” But, apparently, they did.
I sold my favorite bag to the delightful Rebecca of Bake Sale Designs. She was so enthused and friendly. I also made a sweet trade with Veronica of Walter and Veronica. They make amazing scarves out of felted sweaters. I got a great one, and want the weather to be horrible this winter so I can wear it every day! Veronica was super nice, and Walter was, too(though I didn’t talk to him as much).
I bought a few things, but not a ton. A pancake stack for Phil from the very sweet Heidi of My Paper Crane, and a cutie-pie pouch from Wonderlandq. Phil got me a gorgeous ceramic cup thingie from someone who had beautiful ceramics.
We left a little before 5:00, because our sunburns were starting to hurt, and some friends were there to help us pack up (thanks Kelley & Alex!).
All in all, a marvelous day - my fellow helping out in every way(thanks again, P.), the weather, the people, and all the great energy. Hurrah!
